Popular Tiatr Festival 2025

Popular Tiatr Festival 2025 was organised by Tiatr Academy of Goa in collaboration with Ravindra Bhavan Curchorem and Ravindra Bhavan Vasco.

Inauguration of the festival was held at RB Curchorem in the distinguished presence of Hon. Ex. Minister & MLA of Curchorem, Shri. Nilesh Cabral, Legendary Singer Jose Rod, a renowned singer Siddhanath Buyao, TAG President Anthony Barbosa and Member secretary of TAG, Shri. Suresh Divkar on 19th March 2025 at 4.00 pm.

Shri. Anthony Barbosa welcomed the dignitaries on the stage. Shri. Nilesh Cabral and Shri. Siddhanath Buyao complimented TAG for doing fantastic job and promoting, preserving traditional Tiatr through out Goa. They also appealed tiatr lovers to come in large numbers to watch and support Tiatr. Vote of thanks was proposed by Shri. Suresh Divkar. The function was compered by Shri. William Fernandes, a well known tiatrist and General Council member of TAG.

The Festival begin by staging Pascoal D’costa Tiatr ‘Mukutt Sorgicho”. Jose Roman Fernandes staged tiatr ‘Zonvar’ on 20 th March 2025. Tiatr ‘Rogot’ was staged by Menino de Bandar on 21 st March 2025.

The remaining 5 tiatrs continued to be staged at Ravindra Bhavan, Vasco beginning with Domingos F.J. Carvalho’s tiatr ‘Amkam Ballgun Dovor’ on 24 th March 2025.Tiatr ‘Bara Brestar Tera Sukrar’ was staged by Alexin De Morjim on 25 th March. Goan.Com Socio & Cultural Association, Pilar presented tiatr ‘Daddys Home’ on 26 th March 2025. Tiatr ‘Atam Amchem Kitem Zatelem?’ was staged on 27 th march by Pascoal De Chicalim. On 28 th March 2025 last tiatr of the Festival ‘Saibinn Maim Chuklim Ami’ was staged by Domingos Fernandes.

The concluding function of the Popular Tiatr Festival was held on 28th March at Ravindra bhavan Vasco. The Chief Guest for the evening was Shri. Mauvin Godinho, Hon. Minister for Transport & Panchayat and the Guest of Honour was Shri. Krishna Salkar, Hon. MLA of Vasco and the Special Invitee was Shri. Jayant Jadhav, Chairman of Ravindra Bhavan, Vasco. Shri. Anthony Barbosa, President of TAG along with other dignitaries were present on the stage.

Anthony Barbosa welcomed the dignitaries on stage. Shri. Mauvin Godinho highlighted the importance of accepting criticism on the tiatr stage, calling it an integral part of the art form. The Minister also assured continued support for tiatr in the future.

Shri. Krishna Salkar also acknowledged TAG’s efforts in organizing the festival in Vasco and pledged his support for future endeavours.

The function was compered by General Council Member of TAG and a versatile actress of konkani stage Apolonia Rebello. Vote of thanks was proposed by a well known tiatrist and General Council Member of TAG Avito Pires De Menezes followed by the last tiatr perfomance in the Auditorium. All the shows were well attended by the tiatr lovers. Eight tiatr directors got the golden opportunity to stage their shows during the festival. The festival ended with lots of praises and compliments.
