Regina’s Birth Anniversary celebrated –‘Young Achievers Awards – 2024’ presented
Tiatr Academy of Goa celebrated the Birth Anniversary of Regina Fernandes, the First Lady of the Tiatr Stage on 16 th November, 2024 at the Black Box of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao Goa. On this occasion, TAG presented ‘Young Achievers Awards – 2024’ to three of the brightest artistes of Tiatr, Tracy Xaverina Dias, Holly Henricus Rodrigues and Jennifer Fernando for their valuable contribution to Tiatr. The award consisted of a memento, citation and cash purse.
The awards were presented at the hands of the Chief Guest, Ms. Ester Noronha, a renowned Theatre Personality and Tiatrist in the presence of Guest of Honour. Smt Sharon Mazarello, a Senior Tiatrist, Special Invitee Smt. Sharmila Fernandes, Grand daughter of Late Regina Fernandes, Shri. Anthony Barbosa, President of Tiatr Academy of Goa, Smt. Aplon Rebello, Senior tiatrist and Gen. Council member of TAG and Shri. Suresh Divkar, Member Secretary of TAG.
Speaking on the occasion Ms. Ester made an impassioned appeal to the Konkani community urging them to be a bridge and not a barrier in uniting Konkani people globally. She said Tiatr is like a film, which contains all the art forms and is an international treasure that needs to be viewed with a global perspective. She encouraged the community to stay connected to their roots while continuing to move. She appealed to the award winners to take up the responsibility of advancing tiatr and preserving the Konkani language and culture for future generations. Ester Noronha also entertained the packed audience with a Konkani song. Sharon Mazarello urged more women to take to the tiatr stage and contribute to the growth of the art form. Aplon Rebello paid tribute to the late Regina Fernandes, recalling her pivotal role in shaping Konkani tiatr.
The event also featured a Konkani musical programme presented by TAG. The music was given by renowned musician Lenoy Gomendes.
Shri. Anthony Barbosa, President of TAG welcomed the guests and Shri. Suresh Divkar, Member Secretary of TAG proposed a vote of thanks. The function was compered by Sonia Gomes. The programme was coordinated by Smt. Vijaya Tari, Cultural Organiser of TAG.
