TAG’s Lifetime Contribution to Khell/Khell-Tiatr Awards presented
Tiatr Academy of Goa (A Government of Goa Undertaking) celebrated the Birth Anniversaryof late Rosario Rodrigues, Father of Khell-Tiatr on 24 th October 2024 at 3:30 pm at theConference Hall, Ravindra Bhavan Margao.

On the occasion 3 eminent Khell-Tiatr personalities namely Maria Amelia Sororrinha Fernandes (Socorrinha de Sanguem), Antonio Xavier Fernandes (Anthony de Velim) and Agnelo Joao were honoured with Lifetime Contribution to Khell/Khell-Tiatr Award for their valuable contribution to Khell-Tiatr stage at the hands of Chief Guest Adv. Narendra Sawaikar, Hon’ble Commissioner for NRI Affairs. Shri. Menino Fernandes (Menino de Bandar), a well-known Tiatrist and Ex-President of TAG was the Guest of Honour while Shri. Floyd Rodrigues, son of late Rosario Rodrigues was the Special Invitee.

Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest commended the impactful contributions of the tiatr community in fostering societal change and encouraged tiatr artistes to guide the younger generation by conveying positive values in their performances. He highlighted that tiatr acts as a powerful medium for raising social awareness, contributing to the development of a better society. He also urged Tiatr Academy of Goa to publish some of the scripts written by late Rosario Rodrigues to preserve his contributions to the tiatr stage, ensuring that his literary legacy is recognised and valued by future generations. Guest of Honour Shri. Menino Fernandes highlighted the role played by Rosario Rodrigues in nurturing new artists and said that the credit for shaping the career of many artistes goes to Rosario Rodrigues. Awardee Shri. Antonio Xavier Fernandes expressed gratitude to the Tiatr Academy of Goa for acknowledging their contribution to the tiatr stage.

After the awards presentation ceremony the prizes of TAG’s 4th All Goa Inter-Collegiate/HSS Tiatr Competition 2024-25 and 2nd All Goa Inter-School Tiatr Competition 2024-25 were distributed to the winners at the hands of Chief Guest and other dignitaries.

An entertainment programme of Konkani songs was presented by a well-known musician Shri. Norman Cardozo and his troupe. The Brass Band was provided by Edrol Fernandes and his troupe.

Shri. Anthony Barbosa, President of Tiatr Academy of Goa welcomed the audience. In his welcome address he said that his main dream is to set up a Tiatr Bhavan for promotion of tiatr for which the process has already begun with the goal to complete the project within his tenure. He also unveiled his plans for formulating a group insurance scheme for tiatrists. Shri. Suresh Divkar, Member Secretary of TAG proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Shri. Agnelo Fernandes (Agnelo Borim).
