‘TIATR – 125th Anniversary Commemorative Volume’ released
The curtains of the celebrations of 125th Anniversary of Tiatr came down with the release of the book ‘TIATR – 125th Anniversary Commemorative Volume’ published by the 125th Anniversary of Tiatr Celebrations Committee and Tiatr Academy of Goa.
This prestigious book ‘TIATR – 125th Anniversary Commemorative Volume’ was released at the hands of the Chief Guest Shri. Govind Gaude, Hon. Minister of Art and Culture on 19th June 2019 at the Multipurpose Hall of Art and Culture Department, Patto, Panaji. Veteran tiatr artiste and member of 125th Anniversary of Tiatr Celebrations Committee Smt. Jessie Dias was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. The book features 358 artistes of yesteryears, who were responsible to preserve, promote and develop tiatr during the past 125 years. A report of all the activities organized during the 125th Anniversary of Tiatr Celebrations was also released at the hands of the Chief Guest. Dr. Carlos Fernandes, Member Secretary of the committee and Shri. Cezar D’Mello, Member Secretary of TAG were also part of this celebration.
The members of 125th Anniversary of Tiatr Celebrations Committee, all writers who co-operated immensely in publishing the book by way of contributing numerous articles on the lives of tiatr artistes of yesteryears, Ex Minister of Art and Culture Shri. Dayanand Mandrekar, the staff of Tiatr Academy of Goa and Central Library were felicitated for their valuable contribution in making the many varied functions of 125th Anniversary Celebrations a grand success.
Shri. Tomazinho Cardozo, Chairman of 125th Anniversary of Tiatr Celebrations Committee highlighted the various events that were organized by the committee as a part of 125 years of tiatr celebrations. Guest of Honour Smt. Jessie Dias emphasized on the sacrifices made by the tiatr artistes of yester years in promoting tiatr.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Shri. Govind Gaude said that tiatr has not only remained in parts of Goa and India, but has reached throughout the world where Goans live, and that is our wealth. He praised the tiatr artistes and further expressed saying that only because he is a nattak artiste he gained so much of prominence in his life which finally helped him to become MLA and Minister.
Enthusiastic musician and singer Johnny B Gud entertained the audience with some Konkani songs of tiatr artistes of yester years which were well-enjoyed by the audience.
Earlier Shri. Gurudas P. Pilarnekar, President of Tiatr Academy of Goa welcomed and later Shri. William Fernandes, Member of 125th Anniversary of Tiatr Celebrations Committee proposed the vote of thank. The function was compered by Shri. Agnel Borim.
