The Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) will felicitate veteran artistes Antonio Sebastiao Xavier Rodrigues, popularly known as Jack Rodson, and Felipe Norman Fernandes, popularly known as Normandez, in recognition of their lifetime contribution to Khell and Khell-Tiatr at a special programme in Vasco on Saturday, October 24.

The programme, organised by TAG in association with Ravindra Bhavan, Vasco, will be held at 3.30 pm at the Manohar Parrikar Sabhagraha, Ravindra Bhavan, Baina, Vasco. The awards are being presented in memory of late Rosario Rodrigues, regarded as the Father of Khell-Tiatr.

TAG president Anthony Barbosa has appealed to tiatr lovers, artistes and members of the Konkani-speaking community to attend the function in large numbers and support the efforts to preserve Goa’s traditional theatre forms.
“Khell and Khell-Tiatr are an important part of Goa’s cultural heritage, and artistes who have dedicated their lives to these traditional art forms deserve our recognition and appreciation. I appeal to all tiatr lovers to attend the programme in large numbers and join us in honouring Jack Rodson and Normandez for their lifetime contribution,” Barbosa said.

Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr. Ganesh Gaonkar will be the chief guest, while Vasco MLA Krishna (Daji) Salkar will attend as the guest of honour. Noted tiatrist Domnic Carvalho will be the special invitee.

The programme will also feature the prize distribution ceremony of TAG’s 6th All Goa Inter Higher Secondary School, College and University Level Tiatr Competition 2026-27.

The competition provides a platform for students to display their theatrical talent and encourages younger generations to participate in Konkani tiatr, helping carry the tradition forward.

TAG vice-president Marcos Gonsalves and Member Secretary Anand Kauthankar are part of the organising team.

Barbosa has urged tiatr lovers and members of the public to make the occasion a success through their presence and show their appreciation for Goa’s artistes and cultural traditions.
